About the Opportunity

WIKA has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Human Resources Manager, based in Edmonton, AB.

In this position, you will be primarily responsible for planning, organizing, directing, controlling and analyzing the operations of the Human Resources department. Key areas of responsibility include policy and procedure development; human resource planning; labor relations; training and development; recruitment and selection. In addition to remaining current with all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations, this role requires the individual to adhere to and enforce all established Company policies and procedures. This role further requires the individual to maintain positive relationships between the management team and employees. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining positive working relationships with employees and the management team
  • Advising and assisting departmental managers on the interpretation and administration of policies, programs, and best practices
  • Adhering to legislation such as the Human Rights Act and Labor Standards Act
  • Conducting job performance evaluations
  • Identifying job vacancies and planning for filling them
  • Recruiting and selecting new hires based on their knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Informing employees about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, and opportunities for promotion
  • Advising managers on organizational matters such as discrimination, discipline, harassment, etc
  • Serving as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering contracts and policies, striving to resolve work-related issues
  • Compiling statistical reports and metrics concerning personnel-related data such as turnover and the cost of vacancies
  • Analyzing statistical reports to identify and determine causes of personnel problems and developing recommendations for improvement
  • Conducting exit interviews to identify reasons for employee termination
  • Assisting in the investigation and reporting of accidents/incidents
  • Preparing and adhering to department budgets for personnel operations
  • Remaining current with best practices, legislative changes, and industry standards

More About You

In order to qualify for this role, you must have 10-15 years of Human Resources experience as well as a Human Resources Certificate. A combination of equivalent education and experience will also be considered. 

The following skills and experience will be strong assets:

  • Proficient in working effectively under pressure, both independently and as part of a team
  • Proven track record of building strong working relationships, both internal and external to the organization
  • Comprehensive knowledge of payroll systems, internal controls, and management
  • Extensive experience in all facets of recruitment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in multiple human resource areas is highly preferred
  • Exceptional communication skills with individuals at all organizational levels
  • Superior telephone etiquette and strong interpersonal skills
  • Skilled in handling people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
  • Strong computer literacy, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email
  • Quick learner, adaptable to new software applications
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain lasting relationships with corporate departments and key external stakeholders
  • Meticulous attention to detail in all work areas
  • Strong problem-identification and resolution skills
  • Proficient in interpreting and implementing company policies and procedures
  • Customer-focused, dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of both internal and external customers, actively seeks customer feedback for product and service improvements, and prioritizes customer needs
  • Demonstrates integrity and trustworthiness, is known for being direct and truthful, maintains confidence, takes responsibility for own mistakes, and represents oneself honestly
